Half Nigerian eagle, half English lion, this is more than just a logo.
Representing my Nigerian roots and my English upbringing, this logo speaks of where I’ve come from and where I’m going.
Six flowers. Four English roses, my siblings and I, and two Nigerian yellow bells, my parents, finished off with my name written in my mother’s hand.
This is my heritage. This is me. This is David Olaniyi.
Having won season 1 of Dress The Nation and spending a year within the Marks and Spencer design team, I learned that my true passion lies in the development process.
How to bring a garment to life from a simple idea on a page to a fully developed item.
My curiosity was piqued, and I had to know more; how are things actually made?
Looking beneath the surface, I’m drawn to the thinking, the construction, the quiet craft that transforms a mere idea into a reality.

In particular, I find myself drawn to classic pieces, shapes that have lived before, garments that have stood the test of time. But, rather than replicate these timeless pieces, I reinterpret them through the lens of my own perspective and process.

At the centre of all of this lies fabric. The materials I choose to work with often relate to a period in my life, a memory or influence or simply just how I felt at that time.
Afterall, a piece of clothing is never simply something you just put on. It’s a journey, it tells a story, it’s a reflection of you. So, where do we begin…?
